Lightmoves
Many Decorative Lighting systems are available for a whole
range of applications. They are characterised by the having a large number of
low wattage lamps to form a decorative line. They are often used to highlight
the outline of an object.
When selecting a Decorative Lighting system it is important to
ensure:
- The lamps are long life. Lamp life should be in
excess of 30,000 hours.
- The system is low
voltage; either 12V or 24V. This ensures the safety of the installation for
maintenance personnel and the public.
- Lamps are
wired in parallel (not series). This ensures that, when a lamp fails, the
remainder of the system will continue to operate. With a system wired in
series, if a lamp fails, the whole of that circuit will
fail.
All of the systems described below satisfy the above
criteria.
Tubelite
High quality 24 volt, 1watt lamps are housed inside a UV
stabilised polycarbonate tube. The tube can have several profiles
including:
- Square - 10mm x
10mm
- Round - 12.7mm
dia.
- Fluted - 15mm
dia.
Lamps are available in various spacing
configurations:
Lamp
spacing chosen depends somewhat on the application. As a general rule, the
closer the viewer is to the Tubelite, then the closer together the lamps should
be.
Tubelite is suitable for "chasing" and can be
supplied in either a single circuit or 4-circuit configuration. Lightmoves is
able to provide a suitable "chaser".
Tubelite can be used either internally or externally. It can
be used to highlight awnings, windows, food counters, entrances, etc.
Tubelite can also be used to highlight a stair edge, and is
commonly used in cinemas and theatres for this purpose. A custom extrusion is
available which fits over the leading edge of stairs and houses the
Tubelite.
Maximum voltage drop across any one length of Tubelite is 10%.
This equates to:
- Lamp spacing 50mm - Max length
10m
- Lamp spacing 100mm - Max length
14m
- Lamp spacing 150mm - Max length
18m
- Lamp spacing 300mm - Max length
22m
Snakelite
High quality 24 volt, 1 watt lamps are installed in a flexible
clear plastic tube.
Lamp spacing is 100mm.
Snakelite is suitable for "chasing" and can be
supplied in either a single circuit or 4-circuit configuration. Lightmoves is
able to provide a suitable "chaser".
Snakelite is suitable for internal use only. The highly
flexible nature of the tube allows Snakelite to be used in a wide variety of
applications where highlighting is required for even complex shapes. The nature
of Snakelite is such that it can be easily draped over, or wrapped around,
various objects that are to be adorned.
Various lamp colours are available including Clear, Amber,
Red, Blue, Green and Mixed.
Standard length of Snakelite is 10m. Custom lengths are
available on request.
Budlite
High quality 24 volt, 1 watt lamps are
installed in nylon housings that are vertically mounted on a flexible clear
plastic-covered conductor ribbon. Lamp spacing is 50mm or
100mm.
Budlite is suitable for "chasing" and can be
supplied in either a single circuit or 4-circuit configuration. Lightmoves is
able to provide a suitable "chaser".
Budlite is suitable for internal use only. The highly
flexible nature of the conductor ribbon allows Budlite to be used in a wide
variety of applications where highlighting is required to outline even complex
shapes. It is easily mounted using double sided tape or adhesive aluminium
mounting clips. Applications include outlining signs, beams, archways and
ceiling details. Budlite is very effective in highlighting architectural or
structural details.
Coloured lamps are also available to further enhance the
flexibility of the product. It is a simple matter to change lamps (and lamp
colours) whenever required.
Horizontal Mini-Lights
High quality 24 volt, 1 watt lamps are
installed in nylon housings that are horizontally mounted on a flexible clear
plastic-covered conductor ribbon. Standard lamp spacing is 100mm or 200mm, with
other spacings available on request.
Horizontal Mini-Lights has a very low profile (6mmH x 7mmW)
which allows it to be used where unobtrusive lighting is required. It can be
installed in the tube used for Tubelite to produce an alternative to that
product. Various aluminium extrusion profiles are available to house Horizontal
Mini-Lights for applications such as stair edges and display cases.

Britestrip
Britestrip is a highly versatile linear lighting system, which
utilises proprietary sockets mounted on a flat cable. The sockets can house
either festoon lamps or accept a special gimble that allows MR11 dichroic lamps
to be used.
Festoon Lamps
The festoon lamps are 24 volt 10 watt Xenon with a lamp life
of 15,000 hours. They provide an even, linear light source that can be used
for:
- Ceiling and wall cove
illumination
- Display
cases
- Under cabinet
illumination
- Shelf
lighting
- Sign
back-lighting
- Decorative
accents
MR11 Lamps
The MR11 lamps are 12 volt 20 watt Halogen with a lamp life of
3,000 hours. They offer flexibility of aiming and greater highlighting of
particular objects. They can be used for:
- Indirect
up-lighting
- Product
highlighting
- Display
cases
- Architectural
accents
Lamp spacing can be selected depending on
requirements, and variable lamp spacing on the one cable can be accommodated.
However MR11 and Festoon lamps cannot be used on the one cable. Up to 48
Festoon, or 24 MR11 lamps can be used on the one cable.
Cliplite / Wedgelite
Cliplite and Wedgelite are both highly flexible lighting
systems that comprise moulded polycarbonate lamp housings that are pressed onto
a stranded wire cable. The subsequent connection is gas-tight and weatherproof,
and suitable for external or interior installation. Both systems utilise safe
24 volt power and have their lamps wired in parallel. Caps, housing and cables
are all UV stabilised.
The major difference between Cliplite and Wedgelite is the
wattage (and therefore brightness) of the lamps - Cliplite uses 1 watt lamps,
and Wedgelite uses 3 watt lamps.
Cliplight
Cliplite utilises 24 volt, 1 watt lamps, and has been used
extensively for tree illumination, where two basic techniques are employed. The
Cliplite is run along the major branches and trunk of the tree, giving an
outline of the tree in light; or flurries of Cliplite are installed within the
foliage to give a sense of groups of fireflies dancing.
Cliplite is also used to outline various built structures such
as awnings, signs, arches, bridges etc.
Lamps are available in the following standard spacing
configurations:
- 50mm
- 100mm
- 200mm
- 300mm
- 400mm
- 500mm
Since
this product is manufactured by Lightmoves, custom lamp spacing is available on
request. Lamp spacing chosen depends somewhat on the application. As a general
rule, the closer the viewer is to the Cliplite, then the closer together the
lamps should be.
Various lamp cap colours are available, including Clear, Red,
Green, Blue and Amber.
Wedgelite
Wedgelite utilises 24 volt, 3 watt lamps and has gained wide
acceptance for architectural use in shopping malls, cinemas and theatre lobbies.
It is also used to highlight structures in parks, street decoration, and for
decorating signs.

Wedgelite also supports 40mm diameter decorative spheres which
are available in Clear, White, Red, Amber, Blue, and Green.
Stargazer / Startracker
Stargazer and Startracker are linear lighting systems that
comprise a moulded polycarbonate lamp housing that is pressed onto a stranded
wire cable, and then has a polycarbonate decorative sphere fixed over the lamp
housing. The connection is weatherproof, and suitable for external or interior
installation. Both systems utilise safe 24 volt power and have their lamps
wired in parallel. The spheres, housing and cables are all UV
stabilised.
The major difference between Stargazer and Startracker is the
size of the decorative spheres -
- Stargazer uses 40mm diameter spheres
- Startracker uses 70mm diameter spheres. The
Startracker system utilises a special lamp extender to place the lamp filament
in the centre of the sphere.
The spheres are available in
Clear, White, Red, Amber, Blue, and Green. The lamps are 5 watt, with a life of
30,000 hours.

Stargazer and Startracker have gained wide acceptance for
architectural use in shopping malls, cinema and theatre lobbies, particularly
where a larger, brighter fitting is required. The increased size helps the
festoon effect to be prominent in situations where it might otherwise be
obscured.
Stargazer and Startracker are also used as street and
shop-front decoration, and for decorating signs.
