Terry Wyhoon's Ford V8 Supercar, a project very dear to the heart of Lightmoves Technical Director Andrew (Skip) Sherar, is now being prepared for the highlight of the V8 Supercar year, the 1000km race on the Mt Panorama track at Bathurst on 9-11 October. Although the Wyhoon car has improved its performance during this year's Konica V8 Supercar Series, the team had been hoping for better results.

Here's how the V8 Supercars Australia website recently reported the last round of the Konica series at Adelaide's Mallala track.

A Poor Call Turns A Good Start Into A Bad Day For Wyhoon

After a shocking year marred by engine dramas at each race, it was finally looking like Konica V8 Supercar Driver Terry Wyhoon's year was going to finish on a high note in Race three at the Konica V8 Supercar Series season finale race at the Mallala circuit in Adelaide on the weekend.

After a bit of a shaky start to the weekend Wyhoon was forced to sit out the Saturday Qualifying session due to the rear hub assembly breaking, possibly a side effect from a massive crash at the Phillip Island race earlier in the year.

Starting from the rear of the grid in Race one, Wyhoon had climbed to 13th place by race end.

Race two was great result for the Team with a fine 4th place finish after holding 3rd for most of the race, a pace car cation closed the gap Wyhoon had held over field and was overtaken by Konica Series Champion Mark Winterbottom in the dying stages of race.

Starting from position five in the final race of the day Wyhoon got a great start off the line and was quickly up into 4th position, unfortunately for Wyhoon his start was deemed "too good" by Race Officials and the unlucky Ford Driver was ordered to take a pit lane drive through penalty for jumping the start, putting him well back at the end of the field, finally finishing in 17th for the race and 9th overall for the day.

Still claiming innocence on the "jump start" penalty Wyhoon requested to see the video of the incident after the race and was left in no doubt that he had simply had a quicker reaction time to the start lights than the other drivers.

" I just could not believe it when the call came over the car radio that I had to come in for the penalty, I really had a great start and did not think that I had "jumped" but unfortunately once the stewards decision is made there is no provision for argument and the penalty must be served. "I have just been and viewed the tape of the start a number of times and I believe the Stewards were a little hasty at making the penalty call which in turn put an end to our day" said a disappointed Wyhoon.

The Team will now concentrate their efforts on preparing the Ford AU for the Konica race at Bathurst in 5 weeks time and after a strong finish in that race last year Wyhoon will certainly head towards this meeting keen to make amends for all the disappointments the Team has endured this season.
