One of Italy's finest female fashion stores Marina Rinaldi recently opened in Melbourne's Toorak Road. The brief from MR's head office in Milan was to bathe the front of the store in selected coloured light to match the current season's colours.

Martin Alien 02 colour-changers were specified due to their stylish look and ability to match virtually any colour, and local Martin Architectural distributors Lightmoves were called upon to supply, install and program two Alien 02 fittings in order to provide "a beacon of light" behind the two storey-high frosted windows.

Rather than using a DMX control system to control the lights, Lightmoves installed the Martin infra-red receiver inside the store window. This allows the store staff to easily re-program the static colour of the lights using the simple Martin IR remote control from the footpath, as the colour and layout of the clothes displayed changes every four weeks.

The result is a simple but effective display that creates a sense of branding and helps draw attention to Marina Rinaldi's new home in one of Melbourne's biggest fashion precincts.
